The MacDowell Music Club of Canton celebrates 104 years of promoting music.  We bring you cultural information, support young musicians through college scholarships and performance opportunities, present “Informances” and programs free to the public, and we encourage Music For Life!

2014 Scholarship Winners
            The MacDowell Club Scholarship Chair Mark Thewes announces winners of the 2014 scholarships, awarded to graduating high school students who will enter college this fall and major in music:
            Andrew Smith, Jazz Piano, graduate of Washington High School, will attend the University of Cincinnati for a Bachelor of Music degree.  He received the MacDowell Outreach Award for $1000.
            Gabriel Lane, oboe, graduate of Jackson High School, will attend the University of Akron for a Bachelor of Music degree, and plans to continue with a doctoral degree in oboe.  He was awarded the Lela Cope scholarship for $1000.
            Victoria Slabinski, cello, graduate of Lake High School, will attend Miami University for a Bachelor of Music degree.  She received the Gladys Lazarus award for $1000.
            Hannah Royer, soprano, graduate of Jackson High School, will attend the University of Akron for a Bachelor of Music degree.  She received the Ethel Pritz award for $1000.
            Nathan Fete, trumpet, graduate of Perry High School, will attend the University of Akron for a Master of Music degree.  He was awarded a MacDowell Scholarship for $1000.
            Dawna Warrren, soprano, graduate of Hoover High School, will attend Baldwin-Wallace University for a Bachelor of Music degree.  She was awarded a MacDowell Scholarship for $1000.
            Johnney Johnson, percussion, graduate of McKinley High  School, will attend the University of Akron for a Bachelor of Music degree.  He received a MacDowell Scholarship for $1000.
